ARANZ Geo announces Leapfrog Geo 2.0 - a major new release for industry leading vein modelling
CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand, 17 July 2014 – ARANZ Geo Limited, developer of 3D geological modelling software Leapfrog®, has released Leapfrog Geo 2.0, a major advance to their workflow-based solution for modelling geology and mineralisation.
“The Leapfrog Geo 2.0 release really is something special. The features in this major release set it apart from the competition, particularly the vein modelling which is far superior to anything else on the market. We’ve also enhanced how Leapfrog fits into wider company processes and meets reporting requirements, which is essential given the major 10 mining firms all use Leapfrog Geo,” says Shaun Maloney, Chief Executive of ARANZ Geo.
Unrivalled vein modelling
Leapfrog Geo now delivers the most advanced vein modelling abilities in the industry. Users can model curved or folded vein systems that branch or terminate within the intuitive ‘vein systems’ workflow. Narrow geological units such as dykes or shear zones can also be modelled within this new workflow.
“The vein models produced in Leapfrog Geo 2.0 are simply beautiful,” says Product Manager Tim Schurr.
Improved cross sections
Cross sections of any model can now be created, and formatting such as titles, annotations, or a regional model can be added. These can be printed to any page size for reporting. Users can also show multiple models as layers, such as interpolants and geological models, or display multiple columns of downhole data.
Schurr adds, “Users can even create an entire series of cross sections and apply a customised template to all of them at once. This is a huge time saving feature.”
Combined models workflow
The new release further enhances operability by introducing the ‘combined models’ workflow. This is a new approach to comparing overlapping domains that works in a similar way to a ‘pivot table’. Users can combine multiple geological or interpolant models and set the hierarchy in which they will cut against each other. This is perfect for calculating the volumes within different intersecting models.
“Of course, like everything in Leapfrog, cross sections and combined models are fully dynamic. Simply update the original models and the changes will flow through,” says Schurr.
“Leapfrog Geo’s workflow solution allows users to rapidly construct multiple models that consider multiple hypotheses, tested against multiple futures for more realistic, sophisticated and robust evaluation. New information is quickly and dynamically added, keeping models up-to-date,” he says.
Leapfrog is crafted for geologists and saves time and frustration with logical workflows and a beautifully simple interface. Key Leapfrog features which set it apart form the competition include direct from data modelling to build and update models significantly faster, unrivalled processing power, and evaluation of multiple models to test hypotheses. Leapfrog enables compelling 3D visualisation and models can be easily shared with the free Leapfrog Viewer.
Maloney says, “ARANZ Geo is committed to the development and ongoing performance of Leapfrog Geo and we’ll continue to work closely with our clients in the development process. We aim to create real solutions to real problems, and have plenty more in the development pipeline.”
