ARANZ Geo announces major
new release - Leapfrog® Geo 1.4
Workflow-based
solution for modelling geology and mineralisation
dramatically increases
efficiency
CHRISTCHURCH, New
Zealand, 29 October 2013 – ARANZ Geo Limited,
developer of 3D geological modelling software Leapfrog®,
has released Leapfrog Geo 1.4, a major advance to their
workflow-based solution for modelling geology and
mineralisation.
Shaun Maloney, ARANZ Geo’s CEO says, “Our users have told us what they wanted and Leapfrog Geo 1.4 delivers with new features and functionality to take it up a gear. Leapfrog Geo’s speed and flexibility dramatically increase efficiency and enable opportunities to be capitalised on while risks are identified. This makes it a very attractive solution, particularly as the mining industry is experiencing cutbacks.”
Model more
geologies, including veins
Now users can model
more geologies, draw curved polylines, perform vein
modelling with pinch-out and further refine models for even
better realism and understanding.
Model with more
freedom
Advanced generic tools and workflows
allow the user to easily develop their ideas for more
modelling freedom. This modelling freedom when combined with
the increased functionality delivers smoother, better and
faster conceptualising, visualising and analysis.
Vein modelling
Users can model veins,
dikes and shear zones. Useful functions like exporting
hanging-wall and foot-wall surfaces and the ability to model
minimum thickness and visualise in 3D further add to
useability. Realistic models are
easily generated that pinch-out at excluded
segments.
Speed & refinement
Smarter
processing and optimised performance of structural trends
and geological models yield results up to ten times faster.
Users can also divide and conquer geology by creating a more
refined and intricate sub-model within a geological model.
Multiple complex domains can be integrated.
Curved polylines
The ability to
control model output with full command of surfaces increases
flexibility. Users can draw continuous spline-style
polylines and apply to any surface and readily incorporate
surface tangent data in polylines edits. This is ideal for
modelling folded geologies.
“There are a myriad of secondary features like improved drillhole planning, interoperability with more third party software and the ability to create categoric columns from numeric,” says ARANZ Geo’s Product Manager Tim Schurr. “We’ve acted on user feedback and have worked closely with clients to deliver what they want.”
Maloney says the company is committed to providing the best software for modelling geology and to Leapfrog’s ongoing development and performance. “By involving our clients in the development process by listening and acting promptly we’re also seeing users shift from competitive offerings to Leapfrog.”
More workflows
Leapfrog Geo 1.4
drives the workflow approach further, with new high-level
modelling functionality. New workflows mean users don’t
need to leave Leapfrog Geo to accomplish tasks,
significantly speeding up processes.
Increase
confidence, reduce risk
Leapfrog Geo’s top
down workflow approach is ideal for developing multiple
models and ultimately reducing risk. Users can rapidly
construct multiple models that consider multiple hypotheses,
tested against multiple futures for more realistic,
sophisticated and robust evaluation. New information is
quickly and dynamically added, keeping models up-to-date.
The self-documenting approach facilitates easy
collaboration, checking and auditing.

Leapfrog® 3D geological modelling solutions for the mining,
hydrogeology and geothermal industries that enable
executives to make dramatically better decisions. The
thought leader in 3D geological modelling, ARANZ Geo, has
revolutionised the way geological models are developed and
used. The Leapfrog suite of 3D modelling packages are
trusted decision making tools used by the world’s leading
mining companies and investment houses. Wherever geology
needs to be understood Leapfrog’s speed and dexterity
enables senior executives and geologists to make critical,
time sensitive investment decisions that reduce risk. Not
just an exploration tool, Leapfrog can be used at every
stage of the life of a mine, hydrogeology or geothermal
project. ARANZ Geo’s R&D Centre and head office is based
in Christchurch, New Zealand. Local Leapfrog support offices
