People may never be able to own stars, but they can adopt one with Carter Observatory!
Those of us looking for something just a little bit different for the special ones in our lives can now adopt a star from Carter Observatory. Presented with your very own certificate you can select a Single Star, a Binary Star for couples, or a Super Bright Star such as Sirius, Rigel or Betelgeuse. The adopted star is unique to the nominated person, and is visible from New Zealand.

Your Adopt a Star pack contains:
• A certificate dedicating the selected star to a nominated person or event
• Coordinates and instructions on how to locate your adopted star in the night sky
• Background information on your star’s constellation and type
• A sheet of astronomical terms
