Discussions Will Deliver Value for
Farmers
AgResearch is confident that discussions with regional leaders today will help create more value for Otago and Southland farmers, as well as wider New Zealand.
Speaking after a regional meeting today with the Dunedin City Council, Otago Regional Council and Environment Southland, AgResearch Acting Chief Executive Andrew McSweeney says the meeting had set a good platform for on-going discussions between the organisations on delivering valuable science for the region.
Mr McSweeney says today’s discussion was part of a programme of meetings to discuss AgResearch’s plans.
“We’ve have been holding a number of positive stakeholder meetings, with former scientists and local farmers in the Otago and Southland regions, to provide further information on our plans and how they will deliver better science on a regional and national level.
“AgResearch will continue to engage with farmers in Otago and Southland to ensure we understand the challenges facing them and align the support we provide through our work and our work with industry partners.
“We also look forward to continuing a conversation with Otago University, Otago Regional Council and Environment Southland on how we can work together and the ways they can contribute.”
