Leapfrog Hydro 2.0 facilitates quality water flow modelling
MEDIA RELEASE
Leapfrog Hydro 2.0 facilitates quality
water flow modelling
CHRISTCHURCH,
New Zealand, 26 June 2013 - ARANZ Geo Limited,
developer of 3D geological modelling software Leapfrog®
Hydro, announced today the release of Leapfrog Hydro 2.0.
The major release further improves the interface to
specialist flow modelling software MODFLOW and FEFLOW,
ensuring streamlined workflows for rapid understanding and
resolution of complex water problems.
Increase confidence & reduce
risk
Shaun Maloney, CEO of ARANZ Geo, says
“Quality flow modelling starts with great geological
modelling. With Leapfrog Hydro 2.0 geological understanding
can be quickly and seamlessly turned into quality flow
models, radically simplifying and streamlining workflows.
This not only means efficiency gains, but gives
hydrogeologists more time to look at multiple hypotheses and
increase confidence in their modelling.”
Refining decision making
Leapfrog
Hydro 2.0 has a powerful new engine for exceptionally fast
construction of interlocking geological models.
Hydrogeologists can explore different hypotheses in rapid
succession, leading to confident decision making. Dynamic
modelling means models are up-to-date with the latest
information, so models readily reflect new sampling data and
decisions are timely. The latest cutting edge 3D graphics
means visualisation is exceptionally clear, giving users a
better understanding of the models and facilitating
communication to a wide audience.
Competitive edgeMaloney continues,
“The typical Leapfrog Hydro user is an international
consulting company handling a diverse range of client
projects. They often rely on Leapfrog Hydro for
contaminated site management, but it’s also used for
allocating groundwater. More recently Leapfrog Hydro has
been used for modelling salt water intrusion.
“With
significant improvements to the flow modelling interface,
Leapfrog Hydro 2.0 effectively covers the whole groundwater
modelling workflow. This gives our customers a competitive
edge as they can rapidly arrive at more robust models that
accelerate projects, reduce risk exposure and save costs;
all essential in today’s competitive markets.”
MODFLOW & FEFLOW griddingGeological
models can be used to create both MODFLOW and FEFLOW models.
Gridding accurately reflects the geological features and can
be parameterized directly from the geology (e.g., voids from
tunnels or caves). Users can easily import MODFLOW and
FEFLOW legacy models for comparison to current data and to
construct dynamic models.
Output
visualisationLeapfrog Hydro is the ideal tool
for interpreting results of simulation runs as MODFLOW
transient simulation outputs can easily be visualised in
high definition 3D. These advanced graphical capabilities
improve and speed up understanding and ease communication.
The software is now compatible with OpenGL3.0 for higher
frame-rates and more realistic rendering with
transparencies.
InterpolationEven large numerical datasets such as sub-surface contamination levels can be analysed and visualised using Leapfrog Hydro’s powerful dynamic interpolation engine.
ARANZ Geo’s Senior Software Engineer John Good says “Effectively managing groundwater requires a good understanding of the local geology. Enhancements to Leapfrog Hydro’s interface with flow modelling software means users can benefit from significant integration and provide better, more reliable modelling results in less time. Leapfrog Hydro 2.0 effectively bridges the gap between geological and groundwater modelling software.”
ARANZ Geo has a global alliance with DHI, the developer of FEFLOW. As part of this partnership, Leapfrog Hydro is also available worldwide through DHI offices.
