Sony also confirms that Near Field Communication (NFC), which Sony has branded as ‘one-touch’ connectivity, has been introduced to the entire range enabling users to connect their VAIO to a wide variety of NFC compatible devices, like headphones and speakers with just one touch. Touch is the theme of Sony’s new VAIO range, with every model featuring a touch screen LCD and NFC ‘one-touch’ connectivity. “Having a touch screen on every VAIO enables users to have the best experience of any Windows 8 device,” said Simon Carter, Group Manager –Channel & Product Marketing, Mobile Computing & Digital Imaging. “Combined with technologies such as TRILUMINOS Display and X-Reality, Sony is able to continually produce best-in-class products like the VAIO Pro – the world’s lightest touch ultrabook.”
High quality images and sound
All new VAIO models harness Sony’s innovative display, digital imaging and sound technologies to provide the highest-quality personal computing experiences available to consumers. The VAIO Duo and Pro models feature TRILUMINOS Display for mobile, which offers access to a wide palette of rich, natural colours thanks to Sony’s BRAVIA TV expertise. This technology makes it possible to produce images that are more vivid and vibrant, especially the normally hard-to-reproduce reds and greens.
In addition, Sony’s super resolution technology, X-Reality for mobile and Full HD IPS (in plane switching) displays, deliver the sharpest images and videos from almost any angle.
Combined with the audio enhancing ClearAudio+ and XLoud technologies, the entire VAIO range now offers an audio visual experience difficult to surpass on a mobile device. The digital imaging expertise of Sony is also evident across the VAIO range, with ExmorR sensors used on webcams to allow much clearer images and video for web-chatting, even in low light environments.
VAIO Pro
Sony’s new VAIO Pro 11” and 13” models are the world’s lightest touch ultrabooks in their respective classes and exhibit incredible durability and mobility. By using carbon fibre throughout the case, the VAIO Pro 11 weighs only 0.87kg, and the VAIO Pro 13 only 1.06kg (weight includes the supplied battery)
“Carbon fibre has an unparalleled strength-to-weight ratio when it comes to laptops. This is what makes the VAIO Pro not only the world’s lightest but also extremely robust,” said Carter. “This is why it is also used in Formula1 cars and in aircraft”.
Sony incorporates a uni-direction carbon fibre body and Hexa-shell design to provide the additional durability that is demanded in a mobile device. Customers will be in awe when transferring files on their VAIO Pro 13, which has been engineered with high speed SSD, making it two times faster than previous generations.
VAIO Duo
Sony’s new 13” VAIO Duo is an evolution of the convertible slider ultrabook first introduced in the VAIO Duo 11 during the launch of Windows 8. Since then, Sony’s unique Surf Slider design has been further enhanced and now allows for quick and seamless transition between tablet and keyboard modes. This is ideal for when users switch between content consumption vs. content creation or productivity.
While in tablet mode, users can easily operate the VAIO Duo 13 through the 10-point multi touch screen or by using the supplied N-trig DuoSensePen to take natural handwritten notes or draw a quick diagram or picture. When you are on the move or not using the pen, it can be easily be stored on the device in a custom holder.

• Quick resume – can wake from sleep mode in less than one second, delivering the experience we have become accustomed to on our smartphones and tablets

• Battery Life – again to deliver a great tablet-like experience, the Duo 13 delivers up to 11 hours battery life, which is the longest battery life of any VAIO PC in the range ii.
