ESR Forensic scientist Dr John Buckleton is this year’s recipient of the John Harber Phillips Award.
John is the third scientist to receive the award which is the most prestigious honour acknowledging an individual’s contribution to the field of forensic sciences in Australia and New Zealand.
John started at ESR in 1983 and his career as a forensic scientist has taken him around the world. He is considered a world leader in the interpretation and analysis of forensic evidence.
His skills have been put to use in high profile cases such as identifying the remains of the Romanov Russian Imperial family, assessing evidence for the OJ Simpson trial and identifying US soldiers who died during the Korean War.
John is determined that the credit for his award is shared. He says that working with great people has been the highlight of his career.
