New Zealand has lost a visionary leader with the death of Sir Paul Callaghan said Phil O'Reilly of BusinessNZ.

"Sir Paul's vision was of a New Zealand made more successful, prosperous and humane through innovation.

"He saw New Zealand business flourishing in partnership with science.

"He saw a New Zealand where young people act on their passion for science and technology and bring the rewards home.

"At a time when others would have turned their focus inwards, Sir Paul spent his remaining years working and crusading for a new, smart, successful New Zealand.

"We can honour his memory by working to bring his vision to life."
