VortexDNA: Space Weather Data for Predictive Analytics
VortexDNA Unleashes the Power of Space Weather Data for Predictive Analytics
Christchurch, NZ - 10th January 2012
As earthquakes continue to shake Christchurch New Zealand, home of VortexDNA, the technology company today unveiled its Space Weather Service. The service supplies data to insurance companies and others, to enable them to make better predictions. The results could lead to fairer insurance rates, fewer defects in manufactured goods, and better customer service.
"Space weather has a major impact on the global economy," says Branton Kenton-Dau, VortexDNA CEO. "Industries such as aviation, electronics and utilities continuously monitor space weather conditions in order to provide early warning of potential malfunction of computers, power lines and manufacturing processes. We are now bringing the power of space weather to the field of predictive analytics."
The company takes raw space weather data collected by the US Air Force, NASA and other agencies, and processes it through its own proprietary algorithms. The result is a dataset that has already demonstrated its predictive power by reducing risk for investors trading the financial markets.
"Every predictive model is different," says Kenton-Dau. "We give our clients the opportunity to evaluate the improvement VortexDNA Space Weather Data makes to their own predictive models." Evaluation Datasets are being supplied first to VortexDNA's existing clients in the insurance and telecommunications industries. They will then be made available on a first come first served basis.
"A new source of predictive data can have a major impact on the competitiveness of a company," says Kenton-Dau. "In many markets, such as insurance and telecommunications, superior segmentation is a key factor for continued growth. We look forward to working with our clients to evaluate the potential of VortexDNA Space Weather Data for their unique predictive requirements."
