Auckland - New Zealand. (December 16, 2010).
Today, Xplain Hosting and Themesandmodules.com announced the Xplain Hosting Drupal 7 Quickstart training seminar.
Drupal 7, which is rumoured to be just days away from release, is an open source social publishing platform. Drupal 7
has been hotly anticipated all of 2010, for its exciting new features and user interface upgrade. Version 6 is already
used on millions of websites around the world.
Used by organizations including Nokia, Amnesty International, and Harvard University, Drupal is not only the most
powerful, but is arguably now the most popular Content Management System (CMS) in the world.
The Xplain Hosting Drupal 7 Quickstart seminar is aimed at programmers already familiar with Drupal 6, and serves the
need organisations have to quickly upskill their staff to take advantage of the innovative new cost saving features of
Drupal 7.
As Berend de Boer from Xplan Hosting explains: “I’ve been coding Drupal since early 2004, and though Drupal 7 is similar
to 6, finding my way around and learning all the hidden secrets took a great deal of time. Because Drupal 7 is only in
release candidate status, there’s not much information on the web yet, and this means that you need to find your own way
through the code base. This can take a programmer weeks, but we’ve developed a training seminar that can teach all the
most important changes in just a few hours.”
The seminar will look at the Drupal 7 architecture and why it is so different from Drupal 6, cover the differences in
theming, module development and how to give back to the Drupal community in the form of patches.
The training seminar is a collaboration between Xplain Hosting and Themesandmodules.com, a Drupal services provider
located in Wellington, New Zealand.
Willie Seabrook, owner of Themesandmodules.com, explains the rationale for companies to upskill their staff right away:
“Drupal 7 will be the most stable Drupal release yet, and is already in use on huge, high traffic, public websites like
the Examiner. The most important modules (Drupal language for features) have already been upgraded, including the Views
and Web forms modules. Secondly, when Drupal 7 is released, Drupal 5 maintenance will be discontinued. This means no
more security patches, so existing Drupal 5 sites could be strong candidates for upgrading straight to version 7.”
The seminar is suitable for consultants, web development companies and corporates with Drupal installations. Early bird
registration is only $419 NZD excl GST. Online registration and further information is available www.xplainhosting.com/d7quickstart
