Leading ICT business solution launched

Operating costs for thousands of Auckland businesses could be slashed thanks to Vector’s next generation fibre network.

Spokesperson Philippa White says Vector is offering an easy and simple solution to meet customer needs by delivering a fibre network that is allowing IT companies and business partners to deliver next generation information technology business services to their customers.

“Business throughout Auckland can connect to our fibre network and take advantage of applications running in cloud environments which can dramatically improve their economics, agility and robustness,” says Ms White.

“Our Auckland-wide fibre network also allows businesses access to remote network storage and outsourced data centres. That helps businesses remain competitive in the New Zealand and global market because it gives them access to unlimited, fully scalable bandwidth and computing resources. Businesses no longer need to invest in costly IT infrastructure or data centres.”

Thanks to Vector’s resilient fibre network, customers can now connect to Datacom’s world class data centre at speed of up to 10 Gbit/s, as demonstrated at the Planet 2010 Communication and Technology Conference in Auckland on Friday.

Datacom’s Chief Operating Officer, Steve Matheson, says it will provide Auckland businesses with the potential to save companies tens of thousands of dollars annually and access to quality solutions and capability that would otherwise be unavailable.

In what is being described as an enhancer of business growth, Datacom’s data centre facility is easy for businesses to access and use - simply because it is scalable and flexible as the customer does not have to invest in the infrastructure.

Vector has been investing in a fibre network for 10 years now and has recently completed a substantial two year expansion of its network to make accessibility to fibre easier for the more than 19,000 businesses its fibre now passes.

Vector’s ‘fibre to the door’ concept will also be on display at Planet 2010 with reference to its current public awareness campaign which asks New Zealanders to vote on their desire for fibre optic broadband.

“The concept means businesses can use Datacom’s online services like our Payroll and business collaboration services and in combination with Vectors’ fibre optic network, customers can outsource those applications via our data centre and move data in a cloud.”

“More and more New Zealand businesses are realising the potential growth that fibre can deliver and what we are offering is a new way of doing business by providing all of the information technology services a business could need and removing large outlays of capital expenditure. It is very innovative and an extremely exciting time for businesses.

“Information technology solutions like ours fully utilises fibre broadband technology which will be a major boost to productivity for businesses. It will also make communication dramatically faster and allow companies to video-conference in real time. That in itself, opens a raft of possibilities from reduced business costs to the ability to work from wherever you like,” says Mr Matheson.
