Cloud computing just got another green light with the release of a new online operating system that could change the way
everyone thinks about computers.
Cloud computing is all about accessing your information using any computer anywhere by saving all of your software and
data online.
And according to Technology Wise Director Michael Doerner, Karmic Koala, released by Canonical, is the first operating
system that makes this possible.
He says many other products talk about cloud computing but only Karmic Koala, a linux-based operating system based on
the popular Ubuntu free open source operating system, has produced the goods.
“We have just started our testing over the last two weeks. It is the logical next step, more polished, nicer integrated,
with all the major programs like open office and firefox also provided.”
But worldwide, forums on the new release are lighting up – and the news is not all good.
In fact a poll at www.ubuntuforums.org reveals fewer than 13% of users found the new product flawless to install, and more than 20% said they came across
problems they couldn’t fix.
Canonical, the commercial sponsor who released the free linux-based operating system, are yet to comment.
