Wi-Fi Internet for iPhone & iPod Touch users
Tomizone opens Wi-Fi Internet to all iPhone & iPod Touch users in Australasia
~ Three-months free Internet in
over 600 hotspots in Australasia ~
Sydney, Aust. & Auckland, NZ 3 July 2008 -- Tomizone, the global company offering innovative Wi-Fi Hotspot services for high-speed wireless Internet access, today announced the first independent Australasian Wi-Fi service for the Apple iPhone to coincide with the planned July 11 launch.
Tomizone has built iPhone and iPod Touch capability into all of its 600-plus Wi-Fi hotspots in Australasia and is offering three-months free usage of its Internet service.
“Wi-Fi is the fastest internet connection available on these devices”, Tomizone’s CEO Steve Simms said, “The iPhone is the hottest new product on the market and Apple has predicted iPhone sales of about 10 million this year. Tomizone is supporting Apple’s innovation by making our Wi-Fi network available for free, and also encouraging more people to become Tomizone Hotspot owners.”
The Tomizone Hotspot works with any iPhone or iPod Touch, irrespective of the telco (Telstra, Optus or Vodafone) network provider. There is no need to sign up for long-term or exclusive Wi-Fi access agreements with a telco.
In addition to emailing and web surfing, the Tomizone Hotspot allows iPhone and iPod Touch users to download music from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, something users can’t do over the conventional 3G network.
Steve Simms believes its telco-independent Wi-Fi access service for iPhone and iPod Touch will be a major incentive for businesses such as hotels, cafes and coffee shops to install Tomizone Hotspots as a means of attracting new customers. All they need is a broadband connection and a Tomizone enabled Wi-Fi router to participate in this fast growing network.
“Smart business operators can differentiate themselves from their competitors by helping customers to take full advantage of the powerful new features being offered in the iPhones,” Simms explained.
“Because the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store requires a Wi-Fi connection, Tomizone Hotspots offer an increasingly large network to utilise this service quickly and affordably from one of the World’s most popular music download sites and with all of the other new capabilities, this will be an extremely potent combination.”
The Tomizone Hotspot owner can also generate income from users who pay a very low fee to access the Internet.
After the three-month / 500 Mb introductory free usage period, Tomizone iPhone and iPod Touch users can choose a variety of low cost options: an hourly rate (A$3/NZ$3) for 60MB of data downloads; a day pass (A$4/NZ$4.50) with 160MB; or a seven-day pass (A$20/NZ$22.50) with 1.2GB.
Half of any usage revenue earned will be distributed to customers who operate a Tomizone.
Tomizone is a simple Wi-Fi Hotspot solution with its free hotspot-enabling software in selected Wi-Fi routers. When Tomizone is activated on the Wi-Fi router, the Tomizone service governs user access and usage, collects payment and distributes half the money collected to the Hotspot owner. The Hotspot owner could also choose to offer free access to guests or friends using a "Guest Access" feature built into their Tomizone Hotspot service.??
