Plenty of smiles captured in new Cyber-shot range

Plenty of smiles captured in quick thinking new Cyber-shot range

Auckland, 5 February 2008 - This season's Cyber-shot cameras include a new batch of smart technologies that will expand your photography even further.

For the first time, Sony's advanced face detection technology lets you select either a child or adult as the focal point of the photo, automatically customizing the exposure, focus and skin tone of the subject's face for natural images with consistent exposure.

Meanwhile, Sony's own enhanced Intelligent Scene Recognition can sense ambient conditions to automatically select optimal settings for up to 5 different scenes, giving you an even wider range of customization options for more accurate and spot-on image reproduction. That's smart technology that will benefit both experienced and novice photographers alike.

'Sony continues to lead the digital consumer camera market by combining our unique Sony style with advanced, sophisticated functions. With innovative features such as the face detection technology with child and adult recognition, and advanced Intelligent Scene Recognition, our new range of Cyber-shot cameras sets the standard for consumer cameras in the market today,' says Fleur Picot, Product Manager for Digital Imaging, Sony Electronics New Zealand.

Other proven features installed with this new range of Cyber-shot models includes Sony's unique Smile Shutter function - allowing the camera to shoot automatically when a smiling face is detected - and, as part of the new W and T-series models, high-definition (HD) viewing is included for fantastic post-shoot review, along with Sony's popular, body-integrated Super SteadyShot(TM) image stabilization system to eliminate the blurring caused by camera shake.

As you can expect with a Cyber-shot, these savvy new technologies ensure sharp, vivid images no matter what your own proficiency is with a camera.
