New
director for Bio Commerce Centre
Peter Benfell has been appointed as a director of The Bio Commerce Centre.
Mr Benfell is Science and Technology General Manager – Agriculture & Environment at AgResearch, New Zealand’s largest science company.
He has also worked in the private sector, at the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology, and at the Crown Research Institute Geological and Nuclear Sciences Ltd.
Mr Benfell’s career has been strongly focused on science, product development and commercialisation.
Mr Benfell says, “I’m very much looking forward to working with this exciting initiative and capitialising on the region’s research strengths, as well as growing The Bio Commerce Centre’s relationships with the research community.”
The Bio Commerce Centre Board Chairman Derek Walker says, “In addition to Peter’s excellent commercial skills and knowledge of the science sector, his appointment cements the excellent relationship that presently exists between The Bio Commerce Centre and New Zealand’s largest science institute, AgResearch.”
Chairman of the Appointment Committee, Robert Anderson, says, “Peter is an excellent appointee and his connection with the CRI science sector is a particular advantage.”
Mr Benfell succeeds Chris Kelly on the board.
