Cyber-shot introduces smile detection

NEW DIGITAL STILL CAMERAS / Cyber-shot introduces smile detection

Sony's new T200 and T70 Cyber-shot use unique smile shutter function while the H3 Cyber-shot comes with ultimate 10x optical zoom:

Only when you smile

Implementing the new smile shutter function, the Cyber-shot T200 (pictured right) and Cyber-shot T70 shoot automatically when a smiling face is detected. With Sony's proprietary algorithm, the intelligent auto shutter system can detect a smiling face and activates the shooting mode. Ideal for joyful occasions, these Cyber-shot cameras ensure that a happy moment is never missed.

Alternatively, the photographer can also express its artistic side by changing the focus in the screen other than the subject. The new Cyber-shot cameras also incorporate fun and retouching elements including the 'Paint function' with up to 30 different stamps to decorate on the pictures and the in-camera retouching functions to fine tune images for the perfect touch.

Wide LCD touch screens

The stylish 8.1 mega pixel Cyber-shot T200 series and Cyber-shot T70 (pictured left) measure a slim 20.4mm and 20.7mm respectively. The Cyber-shot T200 incorporates a generous 3.5-inch wide LCD touch screen for convenient viewing and sharing of images while the Cyber-shot T70 has a generous 3.0-inch wide LCD touch screen.

Both have a new 16:9 aspect ratio wide LCD screen that implements a new 230,000 dot high resolution touch screen interface to allow convenient operation and is layered with an anti-reflective AR coating to achieve high visibility even in strong sunlight.

Enhanced optical magnification

The new affordable Cyber-shot H3 (pictured right) is currently one of the smallest high optical magnification zoom camera in the market. The newly developed and premium optical 10x Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens and 17x telephoto with HD smart zoom are capable of focusing on the object from a distant distance without the inconvenience of getting close to it.

The new advanced sports shooting mode with a high sensitivity of ISO3200 also makes the Cyber-shot H3 an ideal camera for fast moving action or sports moment with continuous AF and focus control function to track the moving subject for a sharp quality photo image.

Powerful BIONZ engine

With Sony's advanced Bionz imaging processor and Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization, the new Cyber-shot cameras shoot high quality images in high speed with its fast processing power for quick motion shoots. In Cyber-shot HC3, the Bionz imaging processor enables power and potent long-distance flash to shoot subjects up to 14 metres.

The high quality pictures captured by these Cyber-shot cameras can also be enjoyed and shared on a high definition (HD) television with built-in HD output via optional cables or Cyber-shot station.

'Sony continues to lead the digital consumer camera market with innovative features such as the smile shutter and large LCD Wide and touch screen to woo our consumers with extraordinary photo experience. Combined with our signature stylish design and powerful BIONZ processing engine, our new range of Cyber-shot cameras set the standard for consumer cameras in the market,' said Sam Williams, Marketing Manager for Digital Imaging at Sony New Zealand.
