Edit and playback video with Blu-ray HD

FZ-SERIES VAIO NOTEBOOK / Edit and playback video with Blu-ray High Definition

Make a step into the world of High Definition this winter with the launch of the brand new FZ-series VAIO range. Available in multiple configurations, including the premium VGNFZ18G with Blu-ray compatibility, watching and editing high-quality multimedia has become even portable.

Start your Blu-ray experience with VGNFZ18G
Sony's premium new FZ-series VAIO notebook, VGNFZ18G, lets you play and record to the new Blu-ray disc format so you can enjoy your movies in the full glory of 1080 High Definition resolution.

Weighing only 2.7kg, the VGNFZ18G maximizes the impact of its 15.4-inch screen with Sony's patented Clear Bright High Colour LCD technology for crisp details and bold colour. This allows for enjoyment of Blu-ray on the road but if you want to connect your notebook to a HD-compatible television you can do so via the convenient HDMI connector - meaning there will be no compression of your Blu-ray source material as it travels to the larger television screen.

'Blu-ray editing and playback is definitely a stand-out for the VGNFZ18G,' says October Conway, senior product manager at Sony New Zealand, 'But to make it possible there needs to be a lot of carefully integrated hardware and software in the background. The VGNFZ18G has an Intel(R) Centrino(R) Duo processor, smart caching, and 160GB of Hard Disc memory plus a NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT notebook graphics processing unit to make all of this possible. It's really quite incredible what the engineers have managed to pack into this very subtle and stylist compact notebook.'

Colour your world with high definition
The latest in mobile LCD technology is utilized into all the FZ models. Clear Bright High Colour LCD 90 (WXGA: 1280 x 800) provides stunning image reproduction thanks to a brand new backlight technology. The backlight is a special fluorescent tube with a phosphor coating to produce a whiter light output. The whiter the light source, the wider the colour gamut. This results in more vibrant images with more accurate colour reproduction.

Go mobile with the VGNFZ17G and VGNFZ15G
While they may not have the Blu-ray capability of their big brother, the new VGNFZ17G and VGNFZ15G FZ-series VAIO notebooks do share many of the same attributes for reliable, high-speed portable computing.

With a built-in 802.11n wireless LAN, built-in Motion Eye camera, multiple ports, and a pre-installed Windows Vista(TM) Home Premium operating system, these new notebooks will keep you connected to friends and family while you get on with your work or studies. And - if that all sounds too much like hard work - there is still an array of audio and visual features to let you relax with a film or listen to your favourite music using the hassle-free controls and software.

More information available after launch date - 29 June.
