Born Lucky?
Your chance to take part in a mass experiment on luck at New Zealand's only International Science Festival.
If you think you were born lucky, you can be among the first to take part in Professor Richard Wiseman's mass participation experiment, a brand new event for the 2006 New Zealand International Science Festival.
The SBS "Born Lucky" mass experiment looks at whether people's personality is related to their month of birth, and is being conducted by science festival keynote speaker Professor Richard Wiseman (UK).
Dubbed by The Times (London) as "the thinking man's ghostbuster", Professor Richard Wiseman has popularized the science of luck for the general public.
To take part in the experiment, go online to the 2006 New Zealand International Science Festival website and follow the links, or pick up a hard-copy from any branch of the Southland Building Society (SBS) nationwide.
Members of the public have from today (May 24) until 5pm, 7 July 2006 to take part in the experiment.
The results of the mass experiment will be announced during Professor Richard Wiseman's keynote address and presentation to be held at 7.30pm on Saturday 8 July, at the Glenroy Auditorium, Dunedin Town Hall.
Paper versions of the questionnaire can be dropped into any branch of SBS or posted to the New Zealand International Science Festival office, PO Box 5819, Dunedin.
New Zealand International Science Festival Chair Roy Borgman says the Festival is a major event for New Zealand that is attracting the world's top science communicators like Richard Wiseman.
Professor Richard Wiseman is being brought to New Zealand by the British Council.
The mass experiment is supported by SBS.
The New Zealand International Science Festival 2006 - Science Futures: New Horizons is supported by the Dunedin City Council, University of Otago, the Community Trust of Otago and the National Lottery Grants Board.
Tickets, and the programme are now available from the festival office - go to www.scifest.org.nz for details.
