Steve Wozniak arrives this week to take on NZ
13th February 2006
Its only days away when Steve Wozniak, Co-Founder of Apple Computer, arrives in New Zealand with his Segway HT. Steve is
here to put his Segway HT Polo team “the Aftershocks” to challenge the New Zealand “Pole Blacks” in the 1st World Segway
HT Tournament.
The “Godfather” of computing is bringing his Silicon Valley mates to play sport and check New Zealand out for
opportunities with an opening Gala Dinner to be held at the Spencer on Byron Hotel, Takapuna on Friday 17th February
2006.
The Tournament will be officially opened at the Gala Dinner by Hon. David Cunliffe, Minister for Communications.
People can participate by attending the Gala Dinner or the Polo Tournament to be held at the NZ Polo Open on Willow Park
in Karaka just before the NZ Polo Open Final. Detailed information is available on www.fivo.co.nz/segway on how to
participate and buy tickets to the events.
The teams also welcome anyone who has a Segway or wants to give it a go to join them at Vellenoweth Green in St Heliers
Bay, Auckland from 10:30am on Saturday 18th February 2006.
This event is the first time in the world an International Tournament for Segway HT Polo has been played. Teams from
other countries are watching this event with interest and include China, United Arab Emirates, Argentina and France. The
winner of this tournament also obtains hosting rights for the following year’s challenge.
