Encouraging Students to think about Biotechnology
NZBio Encouraging Students to think about Biotechnology
3 August 2005
NZBio announces the 2005 Secondary School Students' Essay Competition.
The essay topic, "How might biotechnology applications affect me? Choose an application, explain the science and discuss its potential to impact on your life" is designed to get students thinking about this exciting field," NZBio CEO Brian Ward says.
"The cash reward of $500 for first prize and $300 and $150 for second and third place-getters is sure to be added incentive to get writing.
"We hope all science and biology teachers will encourage their pupils to enter, and will display the stunning promotional poster in a prime spot on their notice boards.
"NZBio is pleased to revive the former NZ Biotechnology Association's student essay competition, and to have the benefit of their experience. We are very grateful for their input and agreement to help mark this year's entries.
"The competition deadline is 14 October 2005. We look forward to receiving stimulating and well considered work."
Posters and information on the competition has been sent to all New Zealand secondary schools this week.
