Happy Birthday Quicksilver Internet
Quicksilver has reached its milestone fifth year in business. During this time it has seen a number of its contemporaries drop out of the fiercely competitive New Zealand ISP market.
"I'm really pleased with how far we have come," says CEO Matthew Hobbs. "The past five years have been a fantastic challenge, and I am now looking forward to the next five. We are lucky enough to have many of our original staff and customers still with us in 2005."
Quicksilver continues to build the business, and is now rated one of the top 10 ISPs in New Zealand.
Since the beginning, Quicksilver set itself apart by focusing on developing solid services and excellent customer support. The company offers free, friendly and intelligent support to customers on a helpline staffed by real people rather than recordings. It also offers a raft of competitively priced internet packages, including new software and technologies.
In addition to competitive dial up and broadband services, Quicksilver provides webmail, virus protection, website building software and domain hosting. This means its customers have a complete internet solution, from connecting them to the internet, through to building their own website with a personalised domain name.
"What set Quicksilver apart in 2000, and still does today, is its commitment to customers," says Matthew Hobbs. "Quicksilver is not an ISP that provides a service that tells consumers what they want. We approach business from the other end; as a provider of a service that people want."
Quicksilver has spent the first five years continuously communicating with its customers, finding out what makes an internet service better for them, and then delivering on it.
In 2003, the Quicksilver team received the accolade of being in the top 10 of the Deloitte/Unlimited Fast 50, an index of New Zealand's fastest growing companies.
"New Zealand is an exciting place to be involved in the telecommunications industry. It's evolving rapidly and we are growing with it," says Matthew.
"Our future focus includes more emphasis on broadband and better deals for customers. We'll be looking to develop new technologies, including voice technology, for the benefit of New Zealanders."
Matthew believes voice technologies are what will define the success of ISPs in the years to come and is ensuring that Quicksilver will continue to play a leading role.
