Wooshing into orientation week

FREE is a four-letter word that students really understand, which is why Orientation Week at Auckland’s tertiary institutions is heading for a great start.

Portable broadband provider Woosh Wireless is giving away free modems to students who sign up during the period, while its stocks last.

Even better, students that sign up between February 18 and 28 can also take advantage of Woosh’s ‘February and March for free’ offer – paying nothing until April 1.

“Woosh is popular with students due to its portable nature, easy installation and affordable price, it is ideally suited to their often more transient lifestyle,” says Sandra Geange, General Manager Sales and Marketing.

The company will be running demonstration stands at Auckland and Massey Universities, Unitec and AUT throughout orientation weeks that run from February 21 to March 4.

Sandra Geange says Woosh is up to five times the speed of standard dial-up, does not need a phone line and is always connected, so students can chat on the Internet while keeping their phone line free.

“We find that many of our student customers do not even have a landline, they use Woosh and their cell phone,” says Ms Geange.

Woosh recently cut the cost of high speed broadband to $29.95 a month with the introduction of its Woosh Elevate plan. This plan is perfect for light to moderate users who email and surf the Internet. In addition to this, Woosh has launched two new customer plans, Woosh Express 3 and Woosh Express 10.

Callers can call the hotline, sign up to a plan and a Woosh modem will be delivered to them within 48 hours. Installation is a three step, 10 minute process that does not require a technician.

Woosh offers a range of services on top of these new plans that are now available to any customer, including static IP addresses, free virus and SPAM protection.
