AA Supports 2004 EnergyWise Rally
The AA is getting behind the 2004 EnergyWise Rally which kicks off in Auckland on Tuesday November 2nd.
The aim of the EnergyWise Rally is to demonstrate fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness of modern cars in 'real-world' New Zealand driving conditions.
Jack Biddle, AA Technical Advice Manager says the 2004 EnergyWise Rally is a great opportunity for the AA to get involved in an event which reflects the interests of its Members.
"As the voice of the New Zealand motorist we take our role seriously, however we also like to have a bit of fun with it which is why the AA is again supporting the EnergyWise Rally.
"The rally's outcome in highlighting fuel consumption and efficiency represents a topic which increasingly important for the entire New Zealand driving public as they are faced with rising petrol prices," said Mr Biddle.
The AA represents over one million New Zealand motorists and in addition to supporting the event will also be acting as scrutineers and officials throughout the rally.
The EnergyWise Rally is held between November 2 - 5, and cars entered compete in a number of different classes, defined by body size and 'typical' usage.
The four-day event takes the cars from Auckland to Wellington and back using a diverse range of New Zealand roads. The overall EnergyWise Environment Award will go to the car which achieves the lowest fuel consumption.
