Kiwi men love razor sharp technology

New Zealand men are new technology addicts and when it comes to their personal grooming tools there is no exception.

A Gillette survey released today found nearly half (43 percent) of New Zealand men care about new technology when it comes to their trusty razors and rate this factor as their number one reason for trading up their old razors.

In fact, the men who completed the Gillette questionnaires did so while "swapping" their old razor for a new Gillette MACH3Turbo razor - further proof of their desire to keep up with the latest and greatest.

But while the research showed men are particularly motivated by the hottest science, they are not as proactive as they might first appear. On average most New Zealand men only trade in their old razors every one to two years.

Men aged 41 to 60 were the most eager to try out the latest systems technology with more than 30 percent swapping their razors, putting the younger so-called 'early adopters' to shame.

According to Andrea Spearman, Gillette Business Manager, new technology advances in the systems and disposable razor markets - of which Gillette is market leader - are occurring at a great rate of knots. An illustration of Gillette's product development is today's launch of two premium men's razors.

"Our team of international product designers are innovating in this area faster than most men can flick channels when NZ Idol comes on," she says.

"Our latest disposable razor, Sensor 3, represents a significant breakthrough in performance and it is one more example of Gillette's unwavering commitment to deliver disposable users the best shave possible."

"The same can be said for our new systems razor, MACH3Turbo G-Force, the hottest shave for men who prefer this method of wet shaving."

Gillette, the world leader in men's grooming, conducted the survey before Sensor 3 and MACH3Turbo G-Force launched to keep up to date with the types of razors New Zealand men like to use (either systems or disposables), how often they change their razors and reasons that drive them to get a new razor.

The Gillette Sensor 3 is the only disposable razor with three spring-mounted Sensor blades that adjust to the curves and contours of the skin, providing the best overall shave of any disposable razor. Sensor 3 has an advanced lubricating strip containing Aloe and Vitamin E and features a uniquely styled, non-slip handle designed specifically for men including wider rubber ridges along the side of the handle.

The special edition Gillette MACH3Turbo G-Force delivers the closest and most comfortable shave with less irritation, even when shaving against the grain. MACH3Turbo G-Force combines several innovations including Anti-Friction(tm) blades, an ultra-soft protective skinguard, a new lubrication system and an improved razor handle.
