New Year Means New Jobs For Kiwi Internet Users
Auckland, 14th January, 2004 - New year resolutions were certainly strong for New Zealand Internet users this year as
many turned to the Internet to research their goals for the year. Hitwise read the mindset of New Zealand Internet users
during the festive period and demonstrated that many turned online to follow their dream for a change of career.
Benefiting from all this career research online was Seek NZ - www.seek.co.nz which rose in market share surpassing normal levels of December activity. Peaking on the 6th January
Seek NZ rose 80% in a matter of two days when measured against other New Zealand employment websites. The online
employment category as a whole increased by 78% during the same period confirming that New Zealand Internet users were
seeking greener pastures on the job front in 2004.
Netcheck - www.netcheck.co.nz also packed a punch outdoing normal visit levels of December 03 rising 85% within days of the new
year. Based in New Zealand, Netcheck advertises job vacancies and positions across all levels and industries. Hitwise
clickstream data demonstrated that some of the largest contributors of online traffic to Netcheck was derived directly
from it's major competitors.
Overall last week, 76.6% of traffic to the Business and Finance - Employment category was directed at domestic sites.
