New Premedia Solution
New Premedia Solution
Recently PMP Digital (formerly Show-Ads) launched PMPOne, their world leading premedia management software, to New Zealand with an event hosted by PMP Limited CEO David Kirk in Takapuna.
PMP Digital has worked intensively with large retailers for a number of years, to develop a solution that can be tailored to their needs, that incorporates their business rules and yet is a tool flexible enough to produce high quality marketing material.
PMP Digital Customer Solutions Manager Steve Smith, gave a live on-line demonstration to a group of advertisers to illustrate the benefits of PMPOne’s new workflow capabilities.
The new premedia production management tool, PMPOne, is an modular web-based integrated suite of software services designed to improve efficiencies and reduce costs throughout the full spectrum of pre-publication activities. Backed up by specialised services such as workflow analysis, training and ongoing help desk support, PMPOne is customised and configured to meet each individual clients needs.
The asset management module within PMPOne offers clients the ability to centrally store all digital assets (usually photography, but can be any document) so that they can be accessed by multiple users across an enterprise and even externally, and automatically formatted for different media.
This means someone requiring access to images and logos for a Powerpoint presentation can have immediate access to the correct format quickly and easily by choosing from a drop-down menu of selected outputs. At present many business must request these images from their agency, knowing that the response will not be immediate. At the same time advertising creatives may be working on a newspaper advert, and similarly can quickly download the correct format for that purpose.
PMPOne also provides real time updates on job status and management reports on process efficiencies; a bonus for those studios working on many jobs simultaneously.
Other modules incorporate workflow to automate the page build for catalogues and adverts, proofing processes, and selection of photography.
And on completion of the creative, PMPOne will process the material and automatically produce a print-ready file in the correct format required by the publisher.
Offering more than just asset management
PMPOne currently comprises of six modules:
- Job
Briefing
- Asset Management
- Automated Page Build
- Collaborative Approval
- Catalogue Production
-
Photography Production
These modules provide clients with
the capability to better manage the spectrum of
pre-publication activities, and provide benefits including:
- Reduction in fixed and variable overheads
-
Improved time to market
- Removal of any geographic
boundaries
- Superior brand management, and
- A range
of standardised and customised reports.
Clients have the option of using the tools separately, or building them into an integrated system to completely automate the process of preparing corporate and marketing collateral.
Organisations can use the collaborative proofing module for the sign off, storage and distribution of documents with corporate and/or legal content.
Retailers on the other hand can utilise the integrated suite to prepare advertising material more efficiently.
Essentially, premedia solutions are offered that integrate people, software and systems, using the latest technology to substantially reduce the fixed and operational costs of premedia production. We will also work with our clients to reduce risk, improve their time to market and ensure brand integrity, said Steve.
He also said PMP Digital’s new services will allow clients to leverage the company’s extensive understanding of large-scale image databases, graphic science and deep industry experience, without requiring any capital investment.
”Our clients won’t need any new hardware, software or internal IT support to use these new services – we will store and manage their electronic assets, offering users secure access via a web browser interface”.
PMP Digital has successfully implemented PMPOne into some of Australia's largest and most demanding clients.

What is premedia?
The term
'premedia' describes assets and processes that have not been
designed to suite a particular media output. Instead
premedia assets and processes have been designed to be
'media agnostic' until the last moment before the
communication is rendered for output.
This means that it
doesn’t matter whether you have a Mac or a PC, or if you are
putting together a press advert, a large format poster, a
website or a Powerpoint presentation. Premedia assets can be
re-purposed to suit all these media and more.
This provides clients with greater flexibility, shorter lead times and better management of their assets and brand image.
The establishment of premedia processes is a necessary step towards the integration of various publishing streams into 'cross media' or 'network' publishing – predicted to be the next-big-thing in marketing communications and publishing.
Many business already require the same images or files to be used for a variety of purposes. In the past this has meant that decisions have had to be made about an image output when the file was first created or saved, often limiting output choices later on. Premedia allows any output from the original image at any time resulting in a consistently high quality image.
