NZ Raelians Say ‘Yes To Gm’

NZ Raelians Say ‘Yes To Gm’ And The Lifting Of The Moratorium !

Members of the NZ Raelian Movement will have an "all GM meal" at Albert Park in Auckland on Saturday 25th October at 1.00pm to demonstrate their support for genetically modified foods.

Despite numerous scientific studies confirming that GM food is safe, the Green party, and other anti GM groups such as M.A.G.E ( Mothers Against Genetic Engineering), continue to spread false propaganda and use scare tactics to manipulate the New Zealand public.

Spokesperson for the NZ Raelian Movement, Mark Woodgate says, “New Zealanders need to be fully informed about the science of GM and to understand that genetically modified food is tested for toxicity, allergenicity and safety.”

Woodgate says, “We’ve been eating GM foods forever...whether through insects transferring DNA from plant to plant or through conventional breeding methods. The major difference between conventional crop breeding and current gene technology is that now we can select desirable genes and the outcome is much more predictable, reliable and safer. Moreover, gene technology will allow us to enhance the nutritional value of foods by restoring vitamin and mineral deficiencies – as we’ve already seen with vitamin A and golden rice for third world countries.

In addition, we will even be able to eliminate allergens from existing conventional foods. Raelian scientists are currently working to remove the allergen from peanuts responsible for severe allergic reactions in certain individuals.

Newly developed technologies have always been ridiculed- transplants, I.V.F, vaccines, antibiotics, even electricity - and GM is certainly no exception.

In years to come, our mastery of genetic engineering will be such that all food will be designed specifically for a person tastes and all grown in a laboratory. We are just at the beginning of a revolution and those who are trying to oppose it will be seen as limited and primitive by the generations to come.

This Saturday’s ‘all GM meal’ will be comprised of wholesome everyday foods already found on supermarket shelves. These foods have either been modified through conventional breeding, by way of existing GM technology or have had GM ingredients added.”
