SOT Issues Call For Developers
Autotalo, Helsinki, Finland, 2003-10-10
GNU/Linux software house SOT Finnish Software Engineering Ltd. is inviting Open Source developers to its online community, and is making 500 SOT Linux and SOT Office CDs available free of charge to interested volunteers.
SOT is keen to swell the ranks of SOTLinux.org, an online community where users and developers of SOT products come to share their ideas and expertise on activities ranging from help forums to GNU/Linux software projects.
"Everyone with an interest in GNU/Linux and Open Source is welcome to contribute at SOTLinux.org," explained Mr. Phillip Stewart, SOT's Community Manager.
"Programmers, technical experts or just enthusiastic supporters of Open Source - we have projects that could benefit from your input. The idea behind the CDs is to make it easy to get your hands on the software you'll be helping to develop."
Although GNU/Linux can be downloaded freely from the internet, the European maker of SOT Linux also encourages its product to be distributed in CD form.
"In a way, this represents our approach to Open Source at SOT," observed Mr. Stewart.
"We're doing our part to make SOT Linux more accessible, and leading by example. We would hope that recipients of the CDs do the same, by copying and distributing them."
SOT is also an advocate and supplier of Open Source business solutions, and proclaims the advantages of using Open Source software on its corporate website, http://www.sot.com.
Developers interested in joining the SOTLinux.org community and receiving a SOT product on CD should complete the online registration form at http://www.sotlinux.org before 31 October 2003.
