NZ Software Company In Intl Integration Deal

'Anuva' leap forward for NZ Software Company in international integration deal.

Takapuna based document and knowledge management software company 'Anuva' has signed a major integration deal this month with CCH New Zealand Limited.

CCH is a leading business, tax and legal publisher, whose primary focus is on providing business with easy access to knowledge, information and workflow tools to improve efficiency and add value. CCH is part of global information services giant Wolters Kluwer.

The integration involves Anuva's document management software and CCH's legal practice management system, CCH LAWbase. The integration makes LAWbase the first such system in New Zealand to boast a fully featured document management component. LAWbase has over 60% of the local legal market.

Anuva (which means 'knowledge') is targeted mainly at small to medium sized organisations or 'SME's'.

The integration, Anuva's first, will give CCH exclusivity for the legal market in New Zealand. It will also herald Anuva's entry into the Malaysia and Singapore in 2004.

Doug Thomson, CEO of CCH LAWbase describes the integration as a valuable addition.
"Our business strategy at CCH is to provide professionals with a one-stop-shop for productivity tools and information resources, with LAWbase as the hub of our legal offering. The integration of Anuva will help us fulfill this strategy by providing our clients with the very important Document Management component of our total offering. From our market research we know our clients are very keen on what Anuva has to offer and will be doubly so when it is integrated to LAWbase."

Jane Treadwell is Managing Director of Know Where Consulting, a well-known knowledge management consultancy with a long history of involvement in the legal and professional services sectors.

Her view is that "the integration provides small to medium sized law firms with the opportunity to more easily locate, reuse and then add value to their documents, thereby making their business processes faster and smarter."

"This is especially important in an increasingly competitive legal market where clients are demanding more innovative and cost effective solutions to their legal problems."

The deal is big news for Anuva, which only went to commercial release in March/April 2003 after 3 years of intensive R&D. Expansion across the Tasman came a mere 4 months later with the appointment of Anuva's first Australian reseller. Despite the short history Anuva have also been receiving expressions of interest from France, Canada and the U.S.

Document management systems help a company use their knowledge to maximum competitive advantage. This knowledge is found not only in the documents they produce but also in the heads of their staff. DM systems provide increased efficiency and productivity by helping companies capture, share and re-use their knowledge. More information can be found at www.anuvacorp.com

Richard Burton, Managing Director of Anuva, says he has noticed "a growing awareness and interest in document and knowledge management right across the market."

Knowledge Management is widely seen as the 'next challenge' for business and as a key factor in creating competitive advantage. Victoria University's School of Information Management documented this in a 2002 Survey. (Brief available from Anuva upon request).

"Traditionally knowledge management is something that has been seen as pretty exclusive to 'big' companies" says Clinton Swan, Channel and Communications Manager for Anuva, "Until now that is - so it's the more switched on companies that we tend to be dealing with. People who appreciate that this is something they should be addressing and who want to get a jump on their competition"
