PeopleSoft Announces Supply Chain Planning 8.8
New Planning Architecture Drives
Plan Accuracy, Feasibility and Confidence
PeopleSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq: PSFT) today announced the general availability of PeopleSoft Supply Chain Planning 8.8, a key
component of its Performance-Driven Manufacturing suite. Supply Chain Planning 8.8 utilises a centralized data warehouse
that combines planning, performance management and operational systems. As a result, real-time collaboration and
analysis enable companies to improve forecast accuracy, quickly adjust plans to reflect changes in the market, and
ensure that business analysis and financial reports are based on the most up-to-date information.
Quick Facts
PeopleSoft Supply Chain Planning 8.8 shares a common analytical platform with transaction systems, so managers are
alerted quickly when orders deviate from the forecast
Pure Internet Architecture and browser-based access makes enterprise-wide collaboration more efficient as remote
offices, manufacturing partners, customers, and strategic suppliers contribute to and execute on a shared plan.
Plan accuracy and confidence is increased, planning cycles are streamlined, and operations more accurately reflect
actual demand and supply.
Supply Chain Planning 8.8 comprises three new applications:
Demand Planning: Companies can create demand forecasts based on statistical analysis of demand history, causal factors
such as events and promotions, and input from both employees and trading partners. Demand Planning 8.8 features 14 new
advanced forecasting algorithms, enabling easy comparison of forecasts to actual sales results to continually improve
plan accuracy.
Inventory Policy Planning: Organisations can strategically manage inventory to reduce carrying costs, labour costs and
inventory write-offs. New analytics enable planners to create “what-if” scenarios to compare current inventory policies
with alternative policies, project the cost of different inventory strategies and measure impact across the supply
chain.
Supply Planning: This advanced planning and scheduling application ensures that purchases and production capacity are
aligned to produce the products in highest demand. Tight integration with PeopleSoft’s Demand Planning enables planners
to create smart schedules that are tied to forecasted events. New Pure Internet Architecture enables real-time
interaction between a company and its suppliers. As a result, suppliers can update product availability, enabling
manufacturers to determine quickly if they can deliver newly requested materials.
“The reality is that manufacturing operations are complex, and without thoroughly integrated planning solutions,
organisations will continue to experience poor plan-to-actuals results,” said Ray Kloss, Director Product and Industry
Marketing Japan and Asia Pacific, PeopleSoft. “In this new release PeopleSoft continues to drive organisational
confidence and accuracy in the planning process.”
