Science community bands together to assist Crop & Food Research
Association of Crown Research Institutes
The Vice-President of the Association of Crown Research Institutes, Mr Bryce Heard (chief executive of Forest Research) said today:
"The science community across the nation, and in many parts of the world, were stunned and grieved by the loss of the people from Crop & Food Research in a plane crash on Friday evening.
"The science community is a very close one. We often work collaboratively across CRIs, universities, research associations and with companies in the private sector. Family members may work in different entities on the same or nearby sites.
"So the loss is real and personal. We know and highly value all these people.
"Every one of us sends our condolences to the families of the victims, to our colleagues in Crop & Food and our best wishes to the survivors.
"We have already begun work on practical ways in which we can assist Paul Tocker, the chief executive, and our other friends and colleagues at Crop & Food Research through this time. This includes sharing staff and providing support for programmes and, of course, personal support wherever possible."
