doLithe - local technology provide to unite deaf
doLithe, a Wellington based Internet development firm is helping unite New Zealands deaf by providing sophisticated online systems.
The NZ Sign Language Tutors Association contacted doLithe earlier in the year to discuss the possibility of creating an online presence. doLithe welcomed the opportunity to deploy a unique online content and catalogue management system that allows site owners to take control of their own site content.
Using material provided by the association doLithe produced a preview of the proposed site design that was accepted immediately. That afternoon doLithe had completed construction of the site framework and had configured the system so the members of the association could begin entering their content.
The site (available at http://nzsl.webcatalogue.biz) will be launched in mid February from the associations Auckland office. The site will act as a centralised location where the deaf and hearing impaired can located information, resources and find out about upcoming conferences etc.
The beauty of
this system is that once the framework is in place the
owners of the site can add and alter their own content
without the need to employ expensive programmer resources.
