Snowdon Technologies unveils Jamego, its Global Chat
Station
Auckland, New Zealand, December 16, 2002 — Snowdon Technologies announced today the debut of its global chat station, Jamego. Jamego is the result of Snowdon Technologies bringing the Internet and digital handset together, so that users can chat to anyone anywhere in the world from their mobile phone or computer.
With this global instant messaging service Jamego, users have more freedom by being able to chat from the convenience of a mobile phone or the comfort of a PC. The only requirement for using Jamego on a mobile phone is that it is GPRS or CDMA compatible.
Jamego registration includes a unique email account, a personal address book and instant access to a number of public chat rooms or the ability to create a private chat room. Furthermore, invitations to join private or public chat sessions, notifications about incoming emails or information about forgotten passwords can be sent via SMS or email alerts.
“Jamego is all about lifestyle and socializing and is aimed at the next text generation. We wanted to create a friendly place for people to mix, meet and communicate across several channels so they can build their own communities based on individual cultures, tastes and interests,” says Hamish Corbett, Product Development Director of Snowdon Technologies.
According to Chris Taylor, Technical Director of Snowdon Technologies, “There are a number of competitive instant messaging products in the market that may be likened to Jamego, for example ICQ or Microsoft’s Instant Messenger, but Jamego’s uniqueness lies in the fact that we have managed to create an instant messaging system that provides advanced multiple personal communications between mobile handsets and computers.”
Managing Director of Snowdon Technologies Bill Sutherland adds, “We recognised the potential for messaging services to run on a global basis, however, when it comes to using voice landlines on a global basis, costs can become restrictive. With the advent of mobile Internet technology and the rapid growth that is now taking place in this area, we were able to develop an integrated solution that affords freedom and choice and doesn’t confine the user to using specific communication tools on specific devices.”
Snowdon Technologies will continue to develop technologically advanced products and services to provide even richer communication options to individuals.
