NZ Raelian Movement Gives 100% Support To ERMA
Press Release - Raelian Movement 2/10/02
THE NZ RAELIAN MOVEMENT GIVES 100% SUPPORT TO THE E.R.M.A TO ALLOW THE TRANSFER OF HUMAN GENES INTO CATTLE
Despite public opinion and receiving only 7 submissions out of 850 supporting this technology, the ERMA (Environmental Risk Management Authority) has allowed trials to commence involving the insertion of human genes into cattle.
Transgenic technology will provide proteins that could be used to treat medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis. This new technology and the advancement of science is 100% supported by the Raelian Movement of NZ.
Anti lobby GMO groups, the Green Party, Diane Yates, and their one sided arguments, have biased public opinion to the point where all "GM" is considered to be bad.
Therefore, it is imperative for all New Zealanders to be informed about the very real benefits of these cutting edge technologies. The ERMA's decision opens the way for Ag Research to be a pioneer in transgenic research and provides the possibility to find cures for many diseases such as MS, Parkinsons, Alzheimers -and alleviate the suffering of thousands. Similarly, it in the areas of stem cell research and cloning technology, that hold the most promise.
To the fundamentalist groups and individuals who oppose these technologies, it is important to be coherant. That is, commit yourself to renounce to the eventual possibilities of benefit from health care resulting from this new research, to renounce to never use treatments that research will design, and never benefit or have your children and close relatives benefit from this science to cure MS, Alzheimers, Parkinsons etc....
The NZ Raelian Movement encourages the Labour Government to educate New Zealanders about these potential life saving technologies that are currently within our grasp. It is only through education, that New Zealanders can make an informed choice about their future and the future of their children.
