AgResearch and Maori accord on cattle application
AgResearch and Maori accord on cattle application welcome
News that AgResearch had re-submitted its application to develop transgenic cattle and has the support of local Maori was welcomed today by the Chairman of the Life Sciences Network, Dr William Rolleston.
“It is gratifying to see that the hard work AgResearch has put in to develop a worthwhile relationship with the Ngati Wairere has resulted in this public support for their transgenic cattle proposal.
“Ngati Wairere are also to be congratulated for their willingness to work with AgResearch through their environmental agency, Te Kotuku Whenua, to understand what it is AgResearch is trying to achieve and to recognise the effort being made to eliminate possible harm to the environment.
“It’s a victory all round for good
communication and good science,” concluded Dr Rolleston.
