Pdom Gifts Celebrity Babies Cybercitizenship
New global domain name company www.pdom.com is ensuring celebrity babies Liam Flockhart, Alexandria Bowie, Iris Law, Paris Brosnan, Homer Gere and Owen Sussman won't miss out on their slice of cyberspace by gifting dot com domain names to this select group of newborns.
Pdom has registered each of the babies as a dot com (eg Liam Flockhart.com), and is sending each child their own Gift Certificate.
"Pdom is doing this as a service to a few celebrities that we admire who have just had babies," said Chief Executive Robert Wiles.
"Our gift reflects the growing trend towards people securing their space on the Internet."
"All these children's names were available as dot coms (e.g. LiamFlockhart.com), however it's inevitable that cybersquatters would have jumped on them sometime soon. Now they belong to these babies and their parents have the option to secure their child's global Internet citizenship or sell the name."
Wiles says huge growth in domain name registration, based on names, convinced him to launch the world's first cybername gifting site www.pdom.com.
"We are appealing to those people who are comfortable with online shopping and are looking for a hassle free, personal, original gift with Wow factor," said Wiles.
"Whatever the occasion: weddings; christenings; new babies; birthdays; college graduations; mother's day - what could be more personal than gifting someone their very own piece of cyberspace - their own net name (e.g. www.LauraHolder.com)."
Wiles admits that it may seem unusual to gift someone their own name, but points to the trend towards individuals securing their space on the Internet and says net names will soon be the norm.
"The Internet is changing how we communicate. More than 800,000 people have registered their own name as a domain name globally and the number is growing at 400% per annum," he said.
"Mostly people will use their domain name for personalized email but an increasing number are developing their own personal web sites. People are keen to secure their Internet identity even if they are not sure why."
www.pdom.com is a Wellington based global domain name registration and trading company focussing on the new trend towards people securing and establishing their own personal identity on the Internet.
