PC World, Internet Magazine Number One

PC World, Internet Magazine Number One With A Bullet

* Record result means PC World is still NZ's best-read IT and internet title - by a mile

* Internet Magazine has fastest growing circulation of any computer or internet publication

PC World readership has surged to 151,000 in the latest AC Nielsen survey*, up from 132,000 for the previous 12-month period. The figure is the highest readership ever achieved by a computer or internet title, and sees PC World maintain its solid lead over weekly and monthly net and IT rivals.

The record readership result comes hot on the heels of ABC-audited circulation for Dec 00 to June 01, which shows PC World growing 8% to hit a new high of 21,131 (up from 19,485) - the magazine's fifth straight period of growth. The result is double the circulation growth achieved by PC World 's closest competitor.

PC World's stablemate, new title Internet Magazine ( aunched Dec 2000), hit a total NZ net circulation of 14,725 in its debut audit. "To go from a standing start to 14,725 within the space of five issues surpassed our expectations. It also proves there's a big gap in the market for a second net publication," says Editor Chris Keall. "No other publication in the computer/internet category added anything close to that number of readers in its ABC audit".

Keall says while he's pleased with the results, the best is yet to come. "AC.Nielsen SprintData indicates that August 2001 PC World will be our biggest selling regular issue ever -- easily -- setting the magazine on course for even higher readership and circulation figures for the coming June 01 to Dec 01 period." Keall says PC World's Web Savvy section is being expanded over the next few issues to consolidate the magazine's position as the number one choice for business users of the internet.

Internet Magazine is also poised for more growth. "With momentum on newsstands continuing to build during July and August, it's clear that Internet Magazine will enjoy another huge lift in circulation for the coming June 01 to Dec 01 period," predicts Keall.
