Symantec First To Offer Full-Featured Firewall And Native Anti-Virus For Mac OS X
Symantec, a world leader in Internet security, today announced compatibility enhancements in Norton Personal Firewall for Macintosh and Norton AntiVirus 7.0 for Macintosh, offering customers the first retail security solutions to run native in Mac OS X, a full-featured firewall and native virus scan and repair application.
“Symantec is pleased to extend the capabilities of our market-leading Macintosh firewall and virus protection software to support Mac OS X users,” said Richard Batchelar, Country Manager for Symantec New Zealand. “It is important that we continue to provide our Macintosh customers with the continued reassurance that their valuable applications and data will remain safe and secure.”
Designed to keep Macintosh computers secure, virus-free and running at peak performance, Symantec’s product line for the Macintosh includes Norton Internet Security for Macintosh, Norton Personal Firewall for Macintosh, Norton AntiVirus 7.0 for Macintosh, Norton SystemWorks for Macintosh, and Norton Utilities 6.0 for Macintosh. The new compatibility enhancements are available free of charge to customers of the latest versions of Symantec’s products for the Macintosh. Using LiveUpdate and the Internet, owners of Norton Personal Firewall for Macintosh can download the new firewall application; Norton SystemWorks for Macintosh and Norton AntiVirus 6.0 for Macintosh owners can download the new native virus scan and repair application; and owners of Norton Internet Security for Macintosh can download both solutions.
Macintosh users can also utilise a bootable CD to analyze and repair hard disks and optimize drives on Mac OS X.
