AQL Holdings Limited, which earlier this week announced its intention to acquire the privately-held Organic Interceptor
Products Limited (OIP), says OIP’s first product, the world’s first patented certified organic weed controller, has been
approved for use on organic farms in the United States by the Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA), the world’s
largest organic certification agency.
Subject to shareholder approval at a special meeting to be held in July of the acquisition, AQL Holdings plans to change
the company’s name to Certified Organics. The company will produce a range of leading edge products which meet
international organic certification requirements for agriculture, home and industry.
Certified Organics CEO-designate Earl Stevens says the news of the OCIA
approval is excellent, as it means organic farmers who are interested in Organic Interceptor ™ can use the product
knowing there will be approval from the OCIA.
On a separate certification matter, AQL Holdings wishes to clarify a statement made in its initial release regarding its
claim of BIO-GRO certified status for Organic Interceptor™. Organic Interceptor™ is currently being evaluated by BIO-GRO
New Zealand and is being considered for approval, for application on a restricted basis.
