One Million Transactions On WestpacTrust Online Banking
WestpacTrust Online Banking customers have clocked up over one million transactions in only 10 months.
WestpacTrust’s Online Banking has only
been operating since April 2000 but has already attracted
75,000 registered customers. On average, more than 3,000
transactions are completed each day with 12,000 customers
logging on. It was the largest growing New Zealand banking
site in January according to Nielsen Net
Ratings.
WestpacTrust General Manager Online Services Phil Doak said customers are attracted to Online Banking by the convenience it offers and the range of services they can access.
“Customers can log in at any time from nearly any internet capable computer in the world,” said Mr Doak. “They can pay money into any bank account in New Zealand at any time as long as they know the account number. They don’t have to go through the hassle of emailing or phoning us with all the details first.
“They can also pay tax online, check balances on accounts and credit cards, check transactions made up to four years ago – all from the comfort of their home or desk.”
Susan Chard was the WestpacTrust customer who did the millionth transaction. Mrs Chard said: “I use Online Banking every week for paying bills and my credit card, and transferring money between accounts. I also shop for groceries online and use Online Banking to make sure money in the right account to pay for the shopping.
“It’s very easy to use and convenient as I can use it any time. I changed from Phone Banking because I prefer to see my banking information on screen.”
WestpacTrust recognised the one million transactions milestone by giving Mrs Chard a mystery weekend holiday.
Since launch the most popular transaction type on WestpacTrust Online Banking has been bill payments, making up nearly half the total at 478,645. The next most popular is transfers between customers’ own accounts with 350,520 transactions. The other popular transaction is future bill payments, which can be loaded up to six months in advance, with over 140,000 established.
“Nearly 1500 tax payments have also been made online and another 1,100 loaded for future payment,” said Mr Doak. “This service was only introduced in late December which demonstrates how keen Online Banking customers are to take up new services.”
