ANZ to Streamline Administration
ANZ to Streamline Administration and Improve
Customer Service
with Integrated PeopleSoft 8
Solution
ANZ Purchases Web-Enabled Self-Service Technology and PeopleSoft Consulting Services to Accelerate its Evolution into Australasia’s Leading e-Bank
AUCKLAND, November 27, 2000 - ANZ is replacing its disparate core administration systems with an integrated PeopleSoft 8 solution in a major initiative aimed at improving internal customer service and supporting its e-Transformation strategy.
The first major Australasian corporation to adopt the pure internet-based PeopleSoft 8, ANZ is looking to introduce self-service capabilities for staff to increase access to information and drive its evolution into an ‘e-bank with a human face’.
The Common Administration System (CAS) project involves the implementation of PeopleSoft applications for Human Resources (HR), Payroll, General Ledger, Forecasting, Fixed Assets, Procurement and Accounts Payable. Planning for the implementation began on November 16th 2000, with modules to be rolled out in a phased approach over the next year and a half.
In addition to streamlining administrative processes and reducing costs through automated workflow and self-service, the integrated solution will eliminate double handling of data and improve the quality of information.
Commenting on the announcement, Rob Wells, Director of Operations said: “We are thrilled to be working with one of our largest banks to implement our pure internet solution. ANZ have always been a forward-thinking organisation, responsive and predictive of their customer needs. The implementation of this self-service technology will enable the bank to empower its employees, increase customer service satisfaction and deliver competitive advantage”.
“This is about empowering people with the information they need, where and when they need it,” said General Manager of ANZ Bank’s Outsourcing and Corporate Services Division, Peter Donald, who sees the PeopleSoft technology as a strong enabler of internal culture change.
“Our major drivers were the need to rationalise our disparate legacy systems and establish the appropriate global consolidation and governance data while enabling maximum Line of Business autonomy,” he explained.
“We were impressed with the open architecture of the PeopleSoft technology, its ease of use and the extensive self-service capabilities, as well as the company itself and the willingness of its people to listen and be flexible and innovative in the way they addressed our technology challenges.
“Regardless of whether they’re based in Melbourne or Auckland, ANZ staff will be able to access the HR system to manage and update their personal information, as well as accessing salary details, check leave entitlements and request holidays.”

project. PeopleSoft is also acting in an independent
