Formal Hearing to be held in Auckland
Wellington - 7 November 2000: The Royal Commission on Genetic Modification will be holding a formal hearing in Auckland on Monday, 13 November 2000.
"Interested persons" scheduled to make submissions to the Commission are The Northland Conservation Board and Koanga Gardens Trust Incorporated. Copies of their submissions will be available on the Commission's website: www.gmcommission.govt.nz.
In addition, Associate Professor Peter Wills, Theoretical Biologist of the University of Auckland, will present his evidence as a witness for Physicians and Scientists for Responsible Genetics, Greenpeace New Zealand Inc, Green Party, Friends of the Earth, Sustainable Futures Trust and Pacific Institute of Resource Managament. These "interested persons" will be appearing before the Commission early in the new year, in Wellington. The hearing will commence at 9:30am at Tribunals Division, District Court, Level 8, 3 Kingston Street (off Albert Street), Auckland.
The public is welcome to attend these proceedings.

The Commission is considering holding a formal hearing in Christchurch in 2001.
