PSA International and P Ports Invest in
P-Serv Technologies To Provide Track and Trace Solutions For Their Customers
PSA International Pte Ltd (“PSAI”), the international arm of PSA Corporation, and P Ports Ltd (“P”) will provide internet-based Track and Trace (“T”) solutions, through the acquisition of a stake in P-Serv Technologies Pte Ltd (“PST”). PST provides T solutions for the trillion-dollar logistics industry, with special focus on sea and land sectors. This is a major collaboration for two of the world’s largest port operators enabling both to share information and provide real-time, door-to-door “visibility” for sea and land cargo, to serve their shipping line customers better.
This Business to Business (B2B) Track and Trace (T) solution comes under the trademark “eLogicity”. This comprehensive internet-based Supply Chain Execution (SCE) system is business-friendly, cost effective and facilitates information sharing between players in the shipping industry.
With eLogicity, members of the shipping community can track their goods, in real-time, at every step of the supply chain. The T system is based on a common-user open concept that will be made accessible to the global logistics community. The system houses shared information to enable shipping lines to manage better, the consequences of unforeseen events en route to their shipping destinations.
eLogicity also functions as a Supply Chain Automation (“SCA”) enabler, providing inventory holding cost savings, optimising the supply chain planning management and execution, and improving efficiency across the whole supply chain.
Under an agreement signed by the three parties, PST will provide the infrastructure and project management, and leverage on its technological lead to implement T solutions. Direct subscription to eLogicity will be made available by PST to the shipping and transport industry to facilitate their efforts to provide track and trace solutions to their customers. PSAI and P will market the solution through their respective ports and logistics businesses.
Mr Goon Kok Loon, Deputy Group President (International), PSA Corporation Ltd, and President, PSA International Ltd said, “PSA is effectively a technology company operating in the ports and logistics industry to provide better value-added services for our customers. This initiative marks another milestone of PSA’s advancement in e-commerce. PST will complement’s B2B e-commerce service offerings. The collaboration with P will boost’s e-commerce capabilities so as to provide comprehensive port terminal and shipping solutions on the Internet to serve our customers’ needs faster, with more flexibility. I am confident that our customers will ultimately value this service as an essential component of their day-to-day operations.”
Mr. Douglas Anderson, Managing Director of P Ports, said, ”We are enthusiastic about the potential of the T Logistics solution which will complement our existing eCommerce facilities including ePorts. We believe this will add value to our business and that of our customers. The T logistics solution is being tested with containers but will first be applied to P’s car transhipment operations. The partnership that we have established is a strategic one that combines the expertise of three companies, which are experts in their respective fields, with the T needs of their customers.”
Mr. Paul Ng, Chairman and CEO of P-Serv Technologies Pte Ltd, said, “The concepts of track and trace, visibility and Supply Chain Automation have been around for years. However, this is the first time a solution embodying these concepts is made available in an open system for global logistics. The open system is remarkable in that it enables technology and business relationships to be brought together, benefiting all parties involved. I see P and PSAI as the pioneers of this new approach in offering global Track and Trace. We look forward to rolling-out this e-solution from Asia Pacific to the US, Europe and the rest of the world.”
