So-called scientists and physicians show colours

So-called scientists and physicians organisation shows true colours

“Anti-genetic modification activists have shown their true colours while trying to hide behind a very flimsy front organisation,” the Chairman of the New Zealand Life Sciences Network (Inc), Dr William Rolleston, said today.

“The statement from the so-called “Physicians & Scientists for Responsible Genetics” says nothing which is responsible. Nor is it about science, or the responsibilities of physicians who have sworn the Hippocratic oath.

“The statement is filled with the rhetoric of the anti-WTO activists. What connection that has with responsible genetics one can only speculate at.

“The statement shows real agenda of the anti-GM activists has nothing to do with people’s health and safety or feeding the starving in the Third World. It’s all about creating fear of biotechnology and then using the fear to attack trade, and the right of under-developed nations to participate in the global economy.

“We should be grateful the “Physicians and Scientists for Responsible Genetics” have now shown themselves for what they are,” concluded Dr Rolleston.
