The Christian Heritage Party is very pleased with the progress of its candidate Mr Vic Jarvis in the Rangitikei Electorate.

Mr Jarvis is well known in the electorate, through his involvement with the Employer’s Federation, and is currently polling a close second behind the new National candidate Mr Simon Power, a young lawyer.

Mr Jarvis, eighth on the CHP’s Party List, was approached by National before the election and asked to stand for them. He declined their offer and chose to stand for the Christian Heritage Party.

It is understood that National’s own polling has given the same result as the Christian Heritage Party’s internal polling.

If Mr Jarvis succeeds in winning Rangitikei, the 5% threshold will no longer apply to the Party Vote and the Christian Heritage Party will, on current polling have five MPs in the new Parliamentary line-up, possibly even holding the balance of power.

“I am confident that Christian Heritage can win this seat,” said Mr Capill today, “and Christian Heritage looks forward to helping construct a stronger, safer environment for New Zealand families in the coming three years,” he added.

The Christian Heritage Party is also polling well on an Internet poll of 30,000 people where the Party is currently on 8%. Mr Capill said, “This indicates strongly that the Party will get over 5% on Saturday.”
