Act? Fascist?

"Last week I observed that ACT, while having some policies describable with historical & philosophical accuracy as "fascist," was actually the least fascist of the main parties & much less fascist than the Greens," says Libertarianz Leader Lindsay Perigo.

"If someone were to run a competition for being the most dishonest party, the most cleverly cynical, however, then ACT would win by a crooked country mile. "Values, not politics," is their slogan, and that's the biggest lie of all."

"Their pollsters told them that one of the things that gets voters rarked up most of all is the Waitangi gravy-train. Fair enough too," observes Perigo. ACT decided to hit the issue hard. "Again, fair enough. But their stance on this is all cosmetics & no substance. There's no suggestion that the gravy-train will be derailed; just that it should be made to travel faster."

There is no suggestion that the Treaty should be ripped up & be replaced by a Constitution enshrining the rights of people of ALL races; Richard Prebble is opposed to a Constitution. No suggestion that accepting claims going back to 1840 is ridiculous; Richard Prebble was a part of the government that introduced that. No suggestion that the whole Waitangi process should be closed down, leaving claims that DO stack up under common law principles to go through the conventional legal process.

ACT have successfully deluded people into thinking they will crack down on Treaty nonsense, when in fact their actual policy won't make a blind bit of difference. Much sound & fury, signifying nothing. Politics, not values.
