YOUNG NATIONALS LAUNCH STAND-ALONE WEBSITE
http://www.youngnats.org.nz

The Young Nats website launched today is the result of many weeks work by the development team, led by Scott Higham.

"I am proud of the final product. Clearly what we have produced illustrates the strength of our organisation in what is in many respects a disappointing level of political activity amongst young New Zealanders", said Scott Higham.

Youth Vice President and Young Nationals Chair Daniel Gordon pointed to the recently launched "Young Labour" site as a contrast.

"Clearly the Labour Party have gone to considerable effort to pretend Labour cares about young people.

From my observations, Young Labour have only surfaced this election year. Strangely, their site includes more material from their caucus team than their supposed youth wing. Every page has a profile of some boring over-the-hill Labour MP that nobody in our age group has ever heard of, or wants to hear from.

"Our site is packed with interesting and relevant information for young people. We are not going to bombard web users with election bribes. Our record speaks for itself, and this is reflected in our site," said Daniel Gordon.

Scott Higham added that the internet is a vitally important political tool. "With an estimated 1 in 4 New Zealanders regularly using the internet, this figure is double for people under 30. We have to embrace information technology if we want to get our message across to young people."

The site will be updated regularly, and contains information on all Young Nationals divisions, policy, publicity, and election messages for young voters.

The site can be viewed at http://www.youngnats.org.nz
