Clark's Hypocrisy Astounding - Young National

Young National's Policy Chair Grant Tyrrell is struggling to grasp Labour's policy on Student Loans.

"Helen Clark repeatedly states that Labour is going to fix the student debt problem," Grant Tyrrell said. "This is nothing short of blatant hypocrisy as she attempts to ignore the practical solutions that National is proposing. At best it suggests that Helen Clarke does not even understand her own policy."

"Labour's policy is guaranteed to increase student debt by removing interest whilst studying. Currently over half of students do not borrow under the Student Loans scheme. Labour seems determined to make sure that these people will now take out loans to spend as they will. How this is going to reduce student debt is totally beyond me," said Grant Tyrrell.

"National is committed to providing a high quality tertiary education and maintaining access through the student loans scheme. Under National a student loan will never increase in real terms. A National government will provide a 25% discount on interest whilst studying. A National government will reduce student debt with 50% of inflation adjusted repayments guaranteed to pay off capital on loans."

"Once again we see the inability of the Labour-Alliance bloc to make improvements - merely to spend taxpayers money," Grant Tyrrell concluded.
