ACT New Zealand has selected Paul Booth as the party’s candidate in the Wairarapa.
Mr Booth’s community involvement started in 1986 after joining the local Lions. In 1991 he and his wife Geraldine
purchased the Hire Company they now operate. Between 1991 and 1997, he served on the board of directors for the Hire and
Rental Association of New Zealand, two of those years as National President. Since then he has been involved with the
Dannevirke Main Street Committee, serving for a brief period as Chairman.
ACT’s new Wairarapa candidate says “ his interest in the ACT party began some months prior to the 1996 General Election
after making a conscious decision to fully investigate the policies of the various Parties.”
“Personal responsibility, thrift and hard work are what I was taught by my parents as a recipe for success in life. It
worked for them, it will work for me – I am sure it will work for the rest of the country.”
ACT leader Richard Prebble will personally endorse Paul Booth’s candidacy at a public meeting tonight in the Frank Cody
lounge Masterton 8pm.
ACT Leader Hon Richard Prebble said ACT was aiming to greatly increase its share of the party vote in the Wairarapa seat
at the next election.
“We are very proud to endorse someone of Paul Booth’s experience and talent as the candidate for ACT in the Wairarapa.“
Mr Booth said “he had already begun work in the electorate and was continuing the work of ACT’s 8 MPs in getting out and
listening to the concerns of those living in the Wairarapa electorate.”
