Reject The Reptiles, Says Libertarianz Deputy
Confidence in democratic government has crashed, according to ongoing research by the New Zealand Study of Values. "The electorate is beginning to awaken," said Libertarianz Deputy Leader Dr Richard McGrath yesterday." They are beginning to reject the snake oil merchants of mainstream parties who want to run our lives. They are beginning to say: 'Enough is Enough'."
Many voters in the study expressed interest in rule by a team of experts or even a dictator. "I urge those people not to wait until the coming election," laughed Dr McGrath. "They should emigrate forthwith to North Korea, where they can eat grass with the rest of the population. There, they can view at their leisure the wondrous achievements of fifty years of Big Government."
Libertarianz offers a new approach to democracy. Says McGrath: "We want to constitutionally shackle government, to stop it ruining people's lives. For years, politicians have bribed their way into power, buying votes with other people's money. This must stop," he says, "and an effective constitution will do it."
Most laws on the statute books will be heading for an industrial shredding machine if Libertarianz were elected. "The employment contracts of most public servants will be first in the shredder," says McGrath, "beginning of course with those of Christine Rankin and Graham Holland. The Resource Management Act will swiftly follow," he chuckles, "and we'll even throw in the Treaty of Waitangi for good measure!"
